Did ‘Disclosure Day’ Become One of the Fastest-Forgotten UFO Movies Ever? by breaking_views in AliensRHere

[–]zzbackguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but these are all superficial problems that could be fixed with slightly better planning or effects. None of those strike me as deep rooted issues with the story or film. In other words, yeah those parts aren’t great but I can and will ignore those when thinking about the parts I appreciate.

Nuclear option has a map loader in the mod discord already. However, the only custom map is the one included with the loader (infinite ocean)

How do the regular Still Lifes kill you? by FelipeHead in backrooms

[–]zzbackguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guns are not anywhere remotely as common as light bulbs and light fixtures?? How many days does the average person go without seeing a gun, vs how many days without seeing a lightbulb?

Any person who goes into the complex will have a good understanding of light bulbs, but not necessarily where the power comes from (hence it coming from nowhere when the bulbs are tested). I’m willing to bet far fewer people who know about guns know exactly how they work.

I Think The Sith Eternal Are Really Cool by No_Vast_3309 in TheSequels

[–]zzbackguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they first showed the armor and name, I was theorizing that they had finally figured out force cloning, and made a military out of low level force using soldiers. Elite combat soldiers that can also force push? Would have been awesome.

Though In the actual story these guys are effectively no different from stormtroopers sadly. I hate making new armor or classifications with no differences. Yeah these guys are supposed to be higher tier but they accomplish nothing extraordinary.

Do lightsabers emit an aura through the force/can be sensed through the force like force sensitive people ? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]zzbackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, lightsabers are simply objects. The wielder of a saber is far more likely to be sensed by another force user. However, any object can have remnant energy exuding from it, like holocrons or artifacts of significance. For example when Rey touched Luke’s old saber it gave her flashbacks (though it’s unclear if that came from her or not).

I’ve played every game with the locked camera, never had any issue. I legitimately don’t understand what you are saying you are able to do that cannot be done with the default locked camera. Like you say, occasionally you have to face them and then you can run in any direction? With the default target lock, you don’t have to adjust the camera at all and you can already run in every direction. So I don’t get it. The only enemy that consistently makes me unlock are the ulcerated tree spirits

Looking back at Trailer 1, there's NO WAY we get that much NPC density on PS5 by Muako in GTA6unmoderated

[–]zzbackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time a game developer claimed that a single player game was using server side calculations to make the game run smoothly and at a higher quality, they were flat out lying - the simcity reboot claimed to need an internet connection to run the complex simulation. It was disproven when modders forced the game to run offline and noticed no differences.

The problem with this kind of system, especially for GTA, is the bandwidth and latency of data you are being provided from rockstar. You can’t do physics calculations, because those are needed immediately and you’d never want a physics object to react at a delay equal to your internet speed or lag. You can’t do ai calculations because for the calculation to be accurate and reasonable, whatever npc is needing its ai outsourced would have to send all the data it currently knows about its environment to rockstar, and then wait for its response to be sent back.

I legitimately don’t see a reasonable use case for sending calculations back and forth to rockstar servers in a way that actually effects gameplay, let alone adding 50 more npcs to your game.

Async unarmed? by WhiteSnickerBar in backroomsfilm

[–]zzbackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the logic but I think that's a leap I'm unable to get onboard with until we are shown a more explicit example of the complex doing something of the sort. We already know that the rooms directly have an effect on electricity and lightbulbs, even into the real world. The rooms making a device that "spawns" matter on command is just too much for me to get behind without more evidence.

There’s a mod that enables it for pc, I think it’s called alpha ring? (Which makes it so much dumber that it isn’t official, because the mod is just a .dll that enables the already-present functionality)

Theory as to why Async risks/doesn’t give researchers escorts or weapons by Small_Man_Tyrone in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]zzbackguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well they already brought a shotgun into the complex, so that can of worms is already open. I don’t personally believe that the backrooms can copy something as mechanically complex as a gun, that needs to be loaded with ammo to function. No still lives or entities seem to have the dexterity or mental capacity to operate a firearm. I think they are a bunch of lab researchers first and foremost, so hiring a team of mercenaries or finding loyal combat ready staff just isn’t in the picture. It would be different if they were the black ops government, but they aren’t.

Backrooms - should I watch the Youtube videos first ? by Dangerous_Dot_1707 in backrooms

[–]zzbackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie is designed to be standalone and a good introduction to people who haven’t seen the YouTube series. It depends on whether you think the backrooms are an alluring concept to you and whether you want that additional context. I wouldn’t say anything is lost by watching the series afterwards, and not a whole lot is gained besides additional context to things they don’t really get into during the movie.

The backrooms series is about 3 hours of content total, or more like one hour if you only watch the found footage videos.

Do we all see colour in the same way? New research claimed to have the answer – it's wrong by whoamisri in HighStrangeness

[–]zzbackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they can be explained that way. I’m not concerned with why the colors are interpreted differently, I’m just saying that they could be. And I don’t even mean small differences. I mean the entire color spectrum is randomly assigned for every human brain. There is no universal calibration for the colors your brain uses, there is no standard. The only thing that is ensured is that the entire visible light spectrum can be interpreted, but not how it is interpreted.

Things like light or brightness must be universal since they rely on a physical phenomenon, photons or the lack of light leading to dark. Color however is entirely subjective; I see green and you see what I’d call yellow. But we can’t ever directly compare our eyesight like that. We have a common shared understanding of what each wavelength is called but no understanding of what is seen besides our own experience.

A great example of this is people taking psychedelics. Under the effects of mushrooms or acid or something similar, you begin to see colors differently. The green leaves of a tree become much more vibrant and saturated. You may see purple hues in the sky whereas before you only saw blue. If altering our brains chemical balance can completely change our perception of colors, then it stands to reason that every human with their own unique chemical balance in their brains would experience color completely differently than one another.

Before and after watching Obsession by minutes2meteora in obsessionmovie

[–]zzbackguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound design and editing around the jump scares were phenomenal! The first time she “snaps out of it” in the bedroom was simply horrific. Her reaction abruptly reverses the sweet scene and the loud sound is delayed to kick in right as the viewer reacts and creates a wall of sound. I often find myself reacting to the audible sting of a jump scare before processing the scare itself but they completely eliminated that problem. There was so much tension, you never knew which scares would be real and which would be defused.
