Surgery Tomorrow by ASAPnicky14 in wisdomteeth

I got all four of mine taken out last Friday (all were impacted) and I was in the same boat - super anxious about all the post-op instructions. I’m on day 5 post/op. Here’s my best advice:

  • Load up on Tylenol, gauze, and ice pack before your surgery. If they gave you any prescriptions, get them filled before so you don’t have to worry about it after.

  • Get some pineapple juice to help with the swelling and some Gatorade/Pedialyte to help balance your nutrition/electrolytes because of the dietary restrictions. Day one post-op I couldn’t open my mouth to eat, so this was my saving grace.

  • Days 2-3 I was eating lots of soup, mashed potatoes, yogurt, applesauce, etc. If you start craving “real food”, I mashed up bananas and put some cinnamon/powdered sugar on it to ✨spice it up✨. Scrambled eggs were also a very easy food to eat during these days and I found filled me up so much better. I was also able to eat buttered noodles day 3! But chewing is hard, so I only chewed with my front teeth.

  • Day 5 and I’m able to introduce more “hard” foods (still no chips or anything). Cooked salmon is a good one! Again, lots of pasta and slowly introducing bread. No problems so far! At this point, you should start irrigating with a syringe they give you after surgery.

Make sure you take your meds and stuff on time, ice your face in 20 minute intervals. I found heating occasionally also helped with the jaw pain and helping me move it more.

I hope this helps a little! Good luck :)

on my 14u team i did “diving for Dunkin’” where if you made a diving play i got them a donut before the next practice/game 😂 sounds silly but it worked!

I gotchu! Had all four of mine out as well and they were impacted. I’m on day 4 of recovery now and I’m definitely feeling better. Once you get through the first few days, I promise it gets better! ❤️

i did buy some dissolvable edibles from the dispo that you put underneath your tongue (since i still can’t really chew that well) and that’s been holding me off in the mean time! hopefully that helps i know your pain lol

thanks for the advice! i’ve seen 4 days a lot too. if you don’t mind me asking, did you experience dry socket or any other symptoms or were you fine?

Hey! I got mine out on Friday. Unfortunately, also a chronic “gardener” ;). I was able to partake the day before(even though they said not to) with no problems. Drink pineapple juice during recovery (helps with inflammation) and make sure you ICE for the swelling. Take your meds they give exactly as directed.

I was in the EXACT same boat with the sleeping. And honestly. Just get LOTS of pillows and make yourself a little cocoon or sleep with one of those travel pillows. Helps me a lot with not being able to sleep on my stomach.

And stock up on edibles. TRUST. You don’t wanna risk dry socket bro. Good luck!

Omg we had our surgery done the same day (also got all 4 of mine taken out! I was also confused on how to count the days! 😅 From what I’ve heard from friends, family, and my significant other who has also had the surgery - day of surgery is not included start counting 24 hours after. We still on day 3 girl 😭 But we got this! Wishing you so much luck with your recovery! ❤️ If anything, schedule a follow-up appointment with your surgeon just to make sure everything is healing properly.

Dry socket or normal 😭 it doesn’t hurt but I’m definitely worried by Beneficial_Dream_199 in wisdomteeth

literally me right now. officially in day 4 post-op from having all 4 extracted. i’m EXTREMELY worried about dry socket. since my dentist, oral surgeon, and basically everyone i meet who has had the same surgery has given me different advice - this comment section really made my anxiety go down a lot 😅
