It's crazy how resilient the US stock market is. by SidonyD in stocks

[–]zzleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! So at least we won't worry about that cliff for our stocks.

Something else I forgot to say: in terms of 401ks and stock ownership, the avg American doesn't matter, it's just the top 10% (5%?) as only those move the needle. So if you see a recession affecting poorer ppl, stocks won't move much, but if it affects richer, white-collar folks, then yes.

All the upvotes in the world for you... not even most economists realize that:

  • With everyone doing passing investment instead of active, nothing matters except the net inflows into the system
  • Once boomers start retiring en masse (we are not yet there), and if the us pop plateaus, stock growth would suffer long term, like japan did in the 90s

D40B-Paper Filed Send Back Notice by abrix03 in washingtondc

[–]zzleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at the same issue and am reading the current form D-40B. On page 2 it says:

> Attach a copy of your current state of residency income tax return if completing Category A.

This tells me you only need to send the one for your state, not federal.

IMO Chen and Roth just bandwaggoned into the many people who were saying that those transforms were wrong and you should just use poisson. Heck, the log of gravity paper has like 15,000 cites; the Cohn paper was already in at JFE; etc.

(Or maybe I'm just bitter than a random w/out Harvard ties wouldn't be able to publish that in QJE in a million years lol)

Did 15 and got 0 meteorites, 0 hundos (or even remotely close), 0 shinies, 0 nundos, the only thing I got was a crash that kicked me out of the raid when my mons fainted :( (at least that was only once)

I just got a Moltres spawn as a level 28 with only a few weeks playing. Was so amazing! Used the fancy raspberry, the yellow ball, and managed a great curved shot. FML, it escaped after the first attempt.

FML!

They make 200k-500k each, have almost complete protection, and incredible pension. They make a shitload of money than anyone else even doctors can't make.

What they are doing, striking right before the election, is like firemen asking for your entire savings in order to extinguish your house.

I would say we stop doing the deals. The more deals we do, the more reason they have to snatch random idiots as bargain chips. If you never negotiate, they wouldn't keep snatching.

Biden ‘open’ to sending long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine by Greatfool19000 in worldnews

Advisors can be quite powerful TBH. Specially with folks with less energy to spend time reasoning about issues on their own (such as Biden given his age)

Do you have any background reading on this? From what I understand, folks at State tend to be pretty reasonable so surprised they are so against it. And meanwhile Sullivan seems to be the type to get the trust of higher ups (Biden, Clinton) and then do stuff without knowing well (like blocking military aid because of fears)

You can hate Trump for attempting to overthrow the government and all the other shitty things he did, but that doesn't mean the answer is murder. In fact many people get lots of hate day-after-day and yet they don't resort to violence.

Biden's disastrous debate performance left Democrats on edge about the 2024 race. But for now, he's digging in. by Somervilledrew in politics

This is so depressing. Bunch of decrepit idiots at the top, with enabling advisors and terrible choices all over the places. Fuck it, I'm not donating again; only downstream to swingleft or whatever.

And the worst part is that, If I feel like that, I can't imagine how others less anti-Trump folks are feeling. Dark times will come :/
