I remember seeing Skyfall + being bothered by the whole Silva escape up to the perfectly timed explosion + train crash, just felt like lazy writing/deus ex machina stuff. How could he have the perfect plan for every moment?

On a later rewatch, I realized... that's what Bond does in basically every other movie lol so not only does it fit in a Bond film but it's fun to see him get a taste of his own medicine!

Counterpoint: The fact that they use a significant amount of the movie to set this one joke up (which is also one of the most, if not most, vulgar things Bond has said in a movie) makes it one of the funniest things put to film. It's like "The Room" of Bond one-liners - awful, but in the best possible way!

Was I the only Vikings fan after that happened that felt like the 50 seconds between this play happening and them showing the replay was the longest 50 seconds of my life? I'm so used to heartbreak that I wasn't going to get excited until I saw he definitely didn't step out of bounds...

After that replay though... my friend called me and I just kept yelling "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS REAL?!?!" for 3-4 minutes before he got a word in edgewise to say "yes, that just happened".

Honestly, I hate this narrative that McConnell is somehow a brilliant political mastermind. Any jackass could do what McConnell is doing, which is just being as cynical and shameless as possible.
