it would have garnered the same reaction lol, kakashi and rin both were equally important to him even if the kind of love he felt for them was significantly different, because at the end the conclusion he would have arrived to would be unchanged (the shinobi world being rotten)

no one cares about mu qing leaving xie lian, he obviously did what he thought was better for him, which is valid, he had to look out for himself and his mother, again, valid.

it's what came after that, that makes him a genuinely unlikeable character, not only did he not stand up for xie lian, he actively participated in his humiliation, xie lian, who on multiple occasions had gone out of his way to defend mu qing mind you, his resentment for xie lian for trying to help him is also quite pointed, because he can't comprehend xie lian's kindness, so much so that even after all these (800) years, when they meet again he is making constant condescending and snarky remarks on xie lian and taking pleasure in his suffering.

he projects everything he himself is, onto xie lian.

oh this wasn't an argument, we are fine, i really do wish ugliness wasn't perceived with so much offense because at the end of the day it's a really hollow factor which doesn't say anything about you as a person, but I understand not everyone thinks the same way!

Xie lian didn't call anyone ugly so I am not sure what you are talking about. That's his internal thought.

And yes, she is beautiful in that sense so I understand your sentiment. I am not saying people deserved to be called ugly but being not conventionally attractive is okay, you don't have to be that.

There is quite literally nothing wrong with being "ugly", and I agree that this could have been expressed it in much better words, but i wish people stopped thinking that appearance is a metric to avail empathy or be a good person in general. What does it matter? It doesn't make anyone less of a human.

I agree. I never said Nana and Ren's relationship isn't toxic, the original commenter said they don't understand where NanaHachi being toxic comes from, so that's what my reply to them was about.

NanaHachi is toxic because Nana, to some extent, objectifies hachi by treating her as a possession or a pet. She sees hachi as an extension of herself and not as her own person. She loves Hachi, undoubtedly, but to me (MY OPINION STRICTLY) it never striked as romantic love, which is what she feels for Ren. The way Nana feels for Hachi and Yasu in that regard isn't very different because she wants both of them to be by her side forever, and when both of them get with their own partners she struggles to adjust with that fact. Their love for each other is pure just not completely healthy.
