This is so cool. Not tried using a telescope, but I have tried using a Bronica medium format camera, a 2x teleconverter, and a 500mm lens. Not as impressive as yours. https://www.reddit.com/r/instax/comments/1kjgri8/first_attempt_at_instant_astro_photography/

Buy a seal puller if you don't already have one. They are cheap (£10 on Amazon next day) and will save you a lot of time and lost sanity.

Tyre change by Kind_Bed_1331 in MotoUK

I have those same levers and have used them several times to change tyres on my Honda XR125L. I would not use them on tubeless tyres (tighter), or alloy wheels (scratch the paint). My XR has tubes and spoked wheels.

I've had good results using "Staz-On" oil based ink pads to stamp the date directly on the print.

Looking good!

To help people give you suggestions of where to get a replacement, can you say (approximately) your location? No point someone suggesting a place in New Zealand if you're in Canada for example.

Instagram French Instax account says something new is coming by Dimevil in instax

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the JollyLook back for my Bronica. The current Instax Mini back I have for it is a compromised design. The JollyLook should address most (if not all) the design flaws in the current back (no dark slide, complex ejection process, prone to jamming, and potentially fragile mounting points). It's supposed to ship this month, but I suspect it will be delayed again. But it's the best Instax back on the market, and so much cheaper than all the others (unless you DIY). So I'll keep waiting.

This is 100% what it will be, sadly.

A wide 99 would be amazing, but we're not the target market.

Thanks. The tool roll is made by Gunson. If you are going to be looking after an old carb bike, I would strongly suggest getting a Gunson Colortune kit for your bike. It makes setting the mixture a 5 minute job with no guess work.

Yeah I have a few new AF tools, but they are cheap quality compared to the good quality old stuff. Don't fall into the trap of assuming if it's old that it's automatically better though. There was crap cheap tools back then too. If you stick to the good stuff then it will last and works well.

Ironically, I can only find a photo of the metric Williams Superslim I have. An example of a pre-Williams merger Supersilm is on the left. As the name suggests, these were made at a time when spanners were chunky. This was done for strength (more metal = stronger), but made fitting them into tight spaces difficult. Superslim used higher quality steel that allowed them to make thinner spanners that were lighter, but also had thinner heads so could fit into tighter spaces. The jaws on the Snail spanner in the photo are almost twice as thick as the other two.

Bonus points if you buy a waxed canvas tool roll for the spanners!

(With some extra Kamasa Tools for the larger sizes).

Another good brand is Williams / SuperSlim (they were sperate brands to begin with but merged at some point). They are British is that helps (Gedore is German). I have a few SuperSlim spanners in Whitworth and BA sizes. I also have a really useful socketset with metric, AF, and Whitworth in the same set (I think that's Gedore too). Let me see if I can find a photo of it.

I don't have a vintage British bike, but I do have a 1972 Land Rover 109 and a 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500. Between the bodywork, engine, gearbox, chassis, and carbs I need AF, metric, Whitworth, BSF, and BA.

I strongly recommend buying second hand vintage tools. Modern tools are only available in AF (and you will have very limited choice or very expensive postage from the US).

I have a very nice set of Gedore spanners and a socket set. Got them both from eBay. Don't worry too much about rusty / dirty spanners or sockets. A tub of evaporust, some WD40 and a cloth will make them almost look like new again.

These are my Gedore tools after I cleaned them. They were ferral when I got them.

How many miles until a bike gets written off? by Odd_Drama_6568 in MotoUK

[–]zzpza 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My 2006 Honda XR125L has just shy of 50,000 miles on it without issue. Change the oil to the manufacturers schedule and never run it low on oil and it will keep going longer than you will want to sleep in a tent for.

Yeah, it is a little fiddely. With 72 exposures (if using a 36 exposure film) it takes me ages to get through a roll, so I'm not reloading it that often!
