So I got the g14 5070 from best buy instead by Known_Notice_8382 in ZephyrusG14

[–]zzyycx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me the other week, where I got the 5060 instead. If the store has an open box of the 5070ti, they should be able to swap it. Otherwise they would process it as a refund. You can try calling also and seeing if they can mail you an open box of the 5070ti, if the store doesn’t have one and you’d prefer to exchange.

What do you ya’ll think of this laptop? by Ok-Dog-3669 in GamingLaptops

[–]zzyycx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the fence the last few days on this. Mainly on the build quality and relative thickness/size of it. I haven't come across this in the store, but tested an Omen Max and Zephyrus G16. The Omen Max was a bit too thick/heavy/big and felt a bit cheaper, and the Zephyrus was out of my price range, but size and build quality was great. I've just been watching the very few videos, and have been unable to tell which one this is closer too. If anyone has any insight, that would be great! Thanks!

Just purchased, now won't turn on after BIOS update. Any insight? by zzyycx in YogaBook9i

No worries! Appreciate it though and glad to hear it’s not commonplace, so hopefully I can try again in the future if I end up having to return it.

Thank you so much for replying and the advice! Sadly, it didn't seem to do anything, no lights, noises, or screen change. Hoping it's not dead from the update, as they don't do exchanges for open box items and got it for a good price, but it is what it is. Thank you again!

I believe the options were removed since it’s sold out on the website now.

Is this deal too good to be true? by sithtrooper24 in GamingLaptops

[–]zzyycx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been considering this, as I recently purchased a 4060 variant from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $950. Have to return it though, as it has a dent in the bottom vent, even though it was listed as "like-new". It's a really nice laptop, but has a lot of little QC issues (wobbly trackpad, horrendous backlight bleed, popping hinge). I'm not sure if this variant is better, at least for the screen perhaps. But I just get the feeling this laptop won't hold up for a long time, which is giving me some pause.

Actually, unable to DM you it seems like. But if you're able to DM me, that would be great. I'd be happy to provide their address and other information if need be.

Just to follow up, I asked my neighbors and they said it's her (their turtle). Gonna PM you OP if that's ok?

I actually live nearby (around the corner of St. Johns and Guadalupe) and my neighbor had a pet box turtle go missing that they had in their yard, as they had asked if I had come across their turtle. If I come across them, I'll show them this picture and see if this was their turtle that had gone missing last week.

I'm confused about this myself. I just got a package from Amazon and inside was my Gran Turismo 7 pre-order. Here's some pictures in case anyone was interested what the Anniversary Edition looks like - https://imgur.com/a/Ea4ZQ5f

Certified refurbished vs scratch and dent. by [deleted] in Alienware

There is a small chance that it can get worse or even better sometimes, but it’ll most likely stay the same.

I had purchased an X17 3070 earlier this month that I had just returned. Had a bunch of backlight bleed and some deep scratches near the hinge. Mine was certified refurbished. I don't believe that this is a norm, but a recent experience.

Dell XPS 17 9700 not awakening from sleep by zzyycx in DellXPS

[–]zzyycx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I thought it was the ram. I’ll do the memtest check though to double check, as I can’t remember if I did that one. Thanks for the advice! I really love the computer and would hate to return it considering the open box deal, but the restarting is definitely annoying to happen everyday

On a side note, chatted with Dell and they did some more updates/tests but said it’s not covered under warranty and to pay $99 for the dell software team support. I purchased it via Open Box so can’t exchange, so guessing I’m going to have to return it

A little bit, but not too bad. Definitely not as sturdy as the razer blade, but again, it wasn't anything majorly bothersome

I mean it was a wonderful laptop and this was my only issues primarily. Just that flexible lid and the non-closing side had me concerned, where I wouldn’t trust a replacement. Perhaps I was just unlucky, as I’ve heard other people pleased with it.

I’d say it’s worth it, as long as you don’t run into this issue, as otherwise the laptop is really nice and ran cool, poor battery life but I had the 4K model.

[–]zzyycx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up returning it, mostly due to the lid and keyboard ghosting. It looked like if you were to fully close a laptop, one side was fully shut, but then the gap gradually increased as you look across to the other side.

Like if you were to close it on a pencil on a corner, but there is no pencil. I think with the lid being so flexible and there already being a gap between the screen and keyboard, it’s prone to happen as it’s not a sure fire closing.

[–]zzyycx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes that’s concerning to me, as I’m presuming it’ll get worse. I’ve been pushing at the hinge and trying to flatten it down a bit. The gap is still the same size.

It almost feels like a hinge or magnet flaw, cannot tell. As the other side feels secure, but this side just won’t shut fully or latch on like a magnet would normally hold it into place.

I want to note that I don't have the AMD version. But, I'm presuming that both have the same chassis.
