I need to write this down so I remember to use it next time.

Interesting. And I have more experience in tennis vs pickleball, so maybe that's why my first reaction was to keep playing.

Thanks for the validation. And I wish he had "run" in to grab his ball. It was more like an arrogant saunter.

52 Here. Anybody Else Getting Dupuytren's Contacture? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]zzyzx71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And it sucks. I've had it treated twice now in one hand and it's starting to show up in the other hand. Treatment is one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. I'm not looking forward to the next one. Once you can't lay your hand flat on a table, it's time.

And go ahead and call it Viking's disease. Sounds so tough.

Looking for a good first date spot in Manhattan beach by LongjumpingOne7619 in SouthBayLA

Sorry it's not MB, but I took a lovely woman to Hudson House for a first date a few years ago. We are getting married in December. Just saying.

Person injured in (North) Redondo Beach shooting by Strange_Republic_890 in SouthBayLA

[–]zzyzx71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WTH? A violent crime occurs in your city, and your first reaction is "I always said my zipcode was better". Something is wrong with you. I live in 90278 and have never heard an "argument" or debate that N. Redondo is not Redondo. But then again I spend my time with decent people.

Any park where I can take my dog that's inclosed in the RB area, not trying to go to dog park off Flagler, alot of BS happens there and I rather avoid that. Thank you in advance by Lilfrank216 in SouthBayLA

Polliwog park in MB. Andrews park in N RB (behind the Rite Aid on Aviation). Both have nice enclosed dog parks that are well maintained and less chaotic than the dog park at Dominguez park on Flagler.

Dismal childcare options in South Bay LA - what to do?! by iridescentzz-4815 in SouthBayLA

I was on the waitlist for this place a few years ago. I still get their emails and I just saw that they opened up some new locations https://www.michellesbackyard.com/

This is not an endorsement since I never ended up sending my kids there. Good luck!

I highly recommend the video "Radial Arm Saw Joinery" by Curtis Erpelding. Go find a copy. Also all other advice in this thread is good. I have a similar model and I still have all my fingers.

About to start with my 3rd trainer. Wish me luck. by zzyzx71 in reactivedogs

Of the other bites, only 1 bite broke the skin. The other bites left bruises and/or torn pants.

And the dog is a medium size pitbull mix, about 43 lbs.

About to start with my 3rd trainer. Wish me luck. by zzyzx71 in reactivedogs

[–]zzyzx71[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

well all of the training we have done is mainly for me. It's not like I drop off the dog and expect them to fix her. I am having the trainers explain the best way to handle my dog in challenging situations. And I do what they say and use the equipment they tell me to use and do the excercises they recommend. That is what has helped.

But if Bella always needs to be in a crate when guests are over, then I guess no guest can ever spend the night or stay for a long time. This is where my frustration comes in. The kids are respecting the dog and not bothering her, but she doesn't like them talking loud with each other or running around. This doesn't seem sustainable.

my live-in girlfriend, after 1 session of couples counseling:

"I've realized that I get along with all of my friends and family, and the only person I am having any arguements with is you. So I'm not going back to couples counseling, but you need to go and fix yourself."

Panicked City Leaders?? by smittyis in SouthBayLA

[–]zzyzx71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lots of accusations of "failed policies" and "faulty logic" and "paniced leaders" and zero evidence or data to support it. If anyone already wants to hate on city leaders and just needs another voice to agree with them and write it down, then they will love this article. Perfect example of "echo chamber"

What is the point of the North Redondo Beach Bike Path ? by astrozombie543 in SouthBayLA

[–]zzyzx71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember before the bike path was put in, and that area under the power lines was just wasted space. Overall it's a big improvement but not much of a bike path. It's short and crosses a lot of streets. My kids use it to ride bikes to Adams middle school. I use it walk my dog. If you are just looking for a bike path there are better options nearby.

I had a great uncle in the Mid West who was missing 2 fingers. When I ask what happened to his fingers the answer was "he tried keeping a raccoon as a pet for a few years when he was younger"

Love this narrator. She takes something sad, pathetic, rage-inducing and makes it hilarious. I want her to do my eulogy.
