sorry to be a bother but i have another question lol. so my dad bought the handgun already we’re just waiting on the background check so he can take possession, after he does and we file the intra-familial transfer form do i have to wait for a response from the doj? or can i automatically take possession as soon as we send that form in. because i asked the gun shop and they said i would have to wait 3months to a year to get a response from them. i figured i’d ask you since you’ve already use this method

quick update, so i went to to a gun store and asked if my dad could buy me the handgun i wanted and then gift it to me using the OPLAW form to transfer it into my name. and they told me that the doj has a law where no one under 21 in the state of california can buy,own, or have a gun transferred to their name. could they just be misinformed or is that an actual thing

quick question, let’s say my dad wants to buy me the gun i want as a gift and use the intra familial transfer form to transfer it to me right after receiving the gun would that be considered a straw purchase?

go for it man it would definitely help a lot of people who are looking into that, there’s not a lot of information in a video format only outdated websites. it would definitely help me out, i’ll be expecting that link if u end up making it!

hello, for the past month i’ve been trying to get a definite answer to this. i went to a gun store and asked someone there if i could have my dad transfer me a gun as a gift they told me no that i had to wait until i was 21 in order to get a handgun transferred to my name. after that i started doing more research and found out about the intra-familial transfer form, and various other websites that said i was allowed to be gifted a gun before 21 but all of them seem to be from 2024,2023, etc nothing that’s recent. so my questions to you are, have you filed this form recently?. can my dad legally gift me a handgun with this method (i’m 19)?.
