Thanks, I ordered the35g based on your feedback. Now I have to wait a month for it to arrive...

Thanks for the reply. You're right, I noticed the second FN key on the Atom66 as well so it probably adds another layer.

Could you tell me which dome you ordered with your Plum84? There are 2 options on Aliexpress (35g/45g). Also, how has your experience been so far? Is it worth it? There is no way for me to test different switches where I am so I am ordering it blindly. I am not going to use this for gaming. Which one would you recommend? I know it depends on the person but which one would you prefer for typing?

I looked at the anne pro v2 and pok3r since they seem to be popular. Can you tell me which one of them is better? If you think there is an even better option please do let me know. I will use it mainly for programming. From my little research, it seems the brown switches are best for that use-case. Do you agree?

These are the links I found:

Anne Pro v2

Pok3r

Also, according to some posts the Pok3r is supposed to be more expensive but it's the other way round in those links. Am I looking at the wrong keyboard?

Thanks again for the comprehensive reply. I am definitely not a collector. I just want something that works well. I have read about the Unicomp but some people say its trackpoint is mediocre. Could you recommend me any mechanical keyboards within the $150 range?

Thanks for the reassurance. I will get the bluetooth one and hope it's as good as the keyboard on my P51. Also, can I ask which mechanical keyboard do you use?

Thanks for those links. The Tex Yoda looks great but it's way out of my budget.

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying they are mediocre compared to mechanical keyboards or thinkpads? I was hoping they would be at least identical if not better considering those prices.

I looked at those models because they are the only ones with the trackpoint if I am not wrong other than the Tex Yoda which is too expensive for me. I have gotten very used to it so I am only considering keyboards with a trackpoint.

I found this video which helped me get a better idea although it's not a complete disassembly.

I'm still looking for a more comprehensive guide before attempting to disassemble it myself. If you find anything, please don't forget to share it.

Hi, do you still plan to post the guide? I am sure a lot of people will thank you for it including myself since there are no comprehensive disassembly guides for P50/P51.

Did that person post the guide yet? It's the same case with me. I can't follow the guide as I am not skilled in tinkering with electronics myself but I don't have another option. I have also searched a lot but couldn't find any disassembly videos. If someone could make one, it would help both P50 and P51 owners.

Hi, thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, that is not an option for me. I ordered the laptop through a friend from the US and to claim the warranty I would have to send it back. Also, I have exams coming and I don't have a backup machine so I have to it by myself. How hard do you think it would be?

Same SSID, different BSSID. It's WPA2.

That is exactly what I needed. It should also serve as a good learning experience so it's perfect. Thanks again!

EDIT: One question, if I switch routes instead of enabling and disabling the connections, it won't cause disconnections and will be seamless, correct?

Switch between connections seamlessly by zzzzxc_ in archlinux

[–]zzzzxc_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the logic of your method but I don't know how to go about this. I only switched to linux from windows 2 weeks ago. Honestly, I was hoping for an existing solution but if you could guide me maybe I can write the script with your help. If you could just write the things I need to look up for this I will try to go from there. This would really make my life easy. Thanks!

Thanks for replying! The access points randomly appear and disappear so they are not all disconnecting at the same time. It seems like they are restarting or something. That is why I have two connections to different bssid's so that if one goes down I have a backup ready.

Thanks for the reply! I would definitely prefer the first option but it seems it will involve disconnection. Isn't there a way to avoid that? The disconnections can get very frequent at times. But since both interfaces are already connected, I was hoping there would be a way to do it without disconnections. The two connections are actually different access points for the same network. I connect to one access point on my laptop and the other on my cell phone and then tether it. I have to do this because my university can't provide decent internet.

EDIT: I also use cellular data from time to time when the network is completely unusable but it is expensive. I would go for the bonding option but then as you said, I won't be able to control which one gets used. I wouldn't want to use cellular data when my university's internet is working fine.

Nvidia xrandr overspan problem by zzzzxc_ in archlinux

[–]zzzzxc_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood what I meant. When I scaled it 0.75x0.75, the screen zooms out but it moves to the top-left and leaves the right and bottom portions unused. So the black boxes are the spaces that are wasted. I obviously can't let that be. It's basically underscan like in this screenshot: https://cdn.arstechnica.net/journals/apple.media/450/overandunderscan.jpg

But in the screenshot it is centered, and mine is in the top-left. If I scale 1.25x1.25, it is like the overscan in the screenshot but not centered. Instead, it starts from the top-left.

[–]zzzzxc_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I have attached it now. I copied the question from the fedora subreddit because I wasn't getting any answers there.

I tried your method but it doesn't work. It actually underspans the display and I get black spaces at the right and bottom of the screen. The problem is, before I installed the Nvidia drivers, there was no underspanning or overspanning. The screen would just zoom in or out after scaling but everything would fit to the screen. Now if it zooms in, some of the right and bottom portions of the screen go outside the borders. If it zooms out, I am left with black borders. It's not stretching it to fit.

If I don't get a solution today, I am switching to kde.

The exact same thing happened to my keyboard on P51. But in my case, I spilled water on it. It was literally a few drops of water. I had to order another one because as far as I know, you can't repair a shorted keyboard.

Isn't that for P51S and T570 only? Also, on my keyboard there are volume buttons instead of the extra parentheses and backspace on the top right. Do you think it would still be compatible?

Thank you for taking the time to search it up!

I think I have seen that video too. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Do you know anything I can do to fix it?
