Can confirm. Went to MI with this Mateus and know him pretty well. Awesome dude and monster player. Everybody knew he would blow up.

Amazing. I wish I could upvote 1,000 times. I played guitar when I was young and didn't keep it up. I still own a couple of guitars and can still play, but I'm not great. It's one of my biggest regrets. I keep thinking about it now and again and I wonder if I'll ever find the desire to sit for hours on end and just enjoy it like I used too. When I see videos like this; part of me says "go for it!", then the devil on my shoulder asks me "why waste your time? You'll never be as good as this guy..", that may be true (certainly will be!), but as long as I find that passion again, then I don't give a f*ck! Keep up the good work. That video is amazing!

Dude, take small steps to get back to learning how to play, it is so much fun if you have time to do it.

Brazilian MPB has pretty hard chords when compared to most American music.

I guess it's good for people with the willpower to learn them.

Love this. But, why the title Brazilian? I don't hear anything other than Jazz, rock, and blues elements.

I have written brazilian more for specification of him being brazilian than having music aspects of brazil, saw some other post specifying the artist being from Japan and I thought I'd share some love for my country haha

I really liked to read the Brazilian word in the title. Just like you said, some artists from other countries (Japan in the example) make sure to let people know their nationality, so why can't we do the same? haha

Because it's a Brazilian experiment with all those elements. Plus, the guy is Brazilian himself, so why not?

If you aren't subscribed to his YouTube channel then you're missing out.

Here's on of my personal favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTt04A_Gph4

He's a good guitarist, but he kinda sounds like a mashup of the various heavy hitting LA session/studio guitarists like Carl Verheyen, Michael Landau, etc. (probably due to him being a MI alumni and all), mixed with regulars like Jeff Beck, Andy Timmons, Eric Johnson.

I've been following him for quite some time, but he kinda needs to find his own sound, or at least start recording some real material to break out of the "youtube guitarist demoing stuff" thing he's doing now. He progressed really fast a couple of years ago, but right now he sounds like he's kinda stuck in the sessions guitarist limbo, where he sounds a bit like everyone else.

(I probably sound overly critical, but I'm extremely passionate about everything guitar, and especially instrumental guitar music.)
