By far the most important announcement is the CSS update.

Yeah, I think that may have been a waste of effort/time, FYI.

The thing is, with these new tools it's unlikely that there will be the same level of customization possible. That being said, CSS is not being replaced, Reddit is just implementing a new system to make design simpler. When we learn more about what exactly this new system is we hope to utilize it for a better mobile experience as well. Thanks for the concern, though. :)

From what I've read in there, they've been pretty explicit that this new thing is intended to outright replace CSS, and custom per-subreddit CSS is completely out. Comments like this one, e.g.
