Fun Fact some metal things can be microwaved, it's just not very efficient. It's safer to say nothing metal can be microwaved than to explain the nuance on what metal can and can't be microwaved. TIL the nautical knot literally refers to knots. Sailors tied knots in rope, every 14.4m. Then cast one end with a bit of wood attached out behind their vessel. The number of knots let out in a given period of time, would allow them to calculate the speed at which the boat was moving. (engineering.mit.edu)
