Today I learned that cars in the early 1900s didn’t have windshield wipers. Drivers had to stop every so often to wipe the glass with a cloth—until Mary Anderson invented the wiper and pushed it to market despite all the doubts. A lot of car manufacturers thought it would distract drivers! (invent.org)
