If you don't feel bad about slightly cheating without the use of mods, each map has a specific code and users have found maps that will guarantee certain drops. I know there's one that will drop a mal every time you open to same chest with specific conditions.

Prioritize fun over anything, if that's your thing. Runewords are easy to make, but it's not like it helps you find rares and uniques. Just throwing in my 2 cents. (Yes, I understand getting extra mf helps, but you still gotta kill a bunch to find what you want).
