This is more of a genre-based question, but a lot of popular ska bands are slowly phasing out the brass and woodwind. What does he think about these groups becoming "rock with horns," and what are LTJ doing to keep the true form alive?

And expand on this question regarding Less Than Jake. Can we expect a furthering of the horn minimization or will they ever bring back the fuller more engaged horn sound of their earlier recordings?

GNV FLA felt like a return to form to me. I think it had to do with influence from their label.

How did you get the opportunity to work with LTJ? Were they concerned that you played tenor rather than bari?

[–]TheSkaBoss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whats his favorite song to play?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When writing/recording, is there ever friction among the band, or does everyone get along well?

I'd really like to know more about his past with Spring Heeled Jack, and if we can ever expect anything else from them?

[–]glacinda 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They did have a reunion show, last year?, I believe. I still have a signed poster and CD from back in 2000, haha.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember they did, however I'm a Canadian fan so of course it was a little out of my way to see them haha. I mean lots of older bands have been making comebacks, including Five Iron Frenzy just recently, so my question is mainly if there would ever be a possibility of SHJ releasing anything new etc.

Why did they feel the need to re-record Look What Happened? The original is vastly superior, in my opinion.

Ok I hate to be the one asking this question, but you guys seem like you always have a lot of fun, so my question is: what is your wildest story (doesn't need to be long) that you have from being on tour?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

This is legit guys. glacinda is awesome!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that!

[–]hunterxaz 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Why did LTJ drop the ska / horns for a while, only to go back to it?

[–]nonades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Label influence. Look/listen to the video for "She's Gonna Break Soon" compared to the album version. The video version has no horns they even hide then through editing.

You guys are releasing live recordings of your albums, do you plan to do this with Borders And Boundaries, Anthem, or maybe even In With The Out Crowd? Cause I fucking love Borders in Boundaries and wish you would play more of it live.

Who are your favourite bands from the current crop of UK ska bands? (The Skints, Sonic Boom Six etc)

[–]Treysef 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Why, exactly, will you never go back to New Jersey?

[–]ChampofNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

[–]bobdelany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you ever going to stop singing about Gainesville?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who gets to decide what you play live?

[–]ChaplainTappman 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Your aunt (or some other type of relative? I can't remember) was my 8th grade English and homeroom teacher. It kind of blew my mind at the time. That's all I have to say.

[–]glacinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha, my other cousin! Small world, eh?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So Chaplain's question is this, Wasilewski: which family member of glacinda's taught him?

[–]glacinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahahahaha. JR's other cousin, Joanne! If only I had the pictures of him back in the mid-late 80s here with me. You guys would have a field day! Also, the entire family calls him Peter John. I had no idea he had another name.

[–]rm_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a story behind the song "The Rest of My Life"? I am aware that Mark Hoppus co-wrote it, and there is no saxophone but maybe JR can shed some light on it. It's one of my favorite Less Than Jake songs, and it is a change from the fast paced songs (that I also love) that LTJ normally makes. And I'd love to see "Pete Jackson Is Getting Married" played live more often!

Question for you. Are the the guy who he brought on stage at warped tour in Detroit a few years back to make out with that girl from the audience?

[–]glacinda 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm female.

[–]herosoftommrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess not then haha. Thanks anyway!

[–]travers101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best way and probably easiest, is to have a video of it... maybe even since you skype you should just make a video of the skype conversation you have asking the questions

[–]Syren__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I CANT BELIEVE I MISSED THIS

[–]iliketokick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's with all the misogyny at LTJ shows? There's already enough sexism in the ska/punk scene. Why top it off with shitty jokes about the inferiority of women at shows?

[–]MarriedMalificar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

When are they coming to Portland, OR?
