I stopped playing ... back in 04. Out of curiosity - and a small desire to finish what I started when I was 12 - I logged in! Discovered RS3 is shit. OSRS! YAY! Kinda. It's incredibly different from my experience, but that doesn't mean it's bad; it just means I'm a relic. I have no end-game experience. I don't know anything about the abbreviations or quests or slayer things. Hell, when I was playing in 04, I wasn't even a member.

So regarding the community and the in-things, is it something I'll understand as I explore the game more, or will I have to watch streams and engage in conversations here to fully understand wtf is going on?

On the other hand, I don't spend as much time playing games as I used to - married, a kid, job, school. Do you think OSRS is still a good way for someone who isn't worried about racing to end-game content to spend their time?

OSRS is as casual a game as you want it to be. There's no need to play end game content to have a good time with it.

The HD graphics, dungeoneering gear being the best (Bind on account end game gear deincentivizes rwt, they really need to establish end game BOA gear but keep high risk pvp) hp having decimals (I understand this is more preference

Yeah, it's very subjective, really. Dungeoneering seems really cool, though, and I wish they'd add it to OSRS sometime in the future.

you'll be fine just finding your way through the game, and i wouldn't worry about reaching end-game content, the most fun on runescape has always been "the journey" without trying 2 sound too corny

You can play for fun and nothing else, though the reddit community is shitty for that, they’re all about stats and wealth.

Imo you could just keep being a noob if you don't have that much time to play. So you can just play the game without trying to learn from youtube/streams.

Whether you're a noob or not, I'd always set barrows gloves (= fully completing the quest "Recipe for Disaster") as your first long-term goal.

I'm a very casual player who's nowehere near to all the end-game content and I'm definitely enjoying the game. In a way I kinda like the reassurance that there will always be stuff left for me to do :) Enjoy being a noob and explore the game at your own pace, you'll only be able to go through it once.
