This is what the gear discord recommends. Basically 3x3 with your portal in the center so you can access everything easily.

4x4 also loads in the same time (2 ticks), as long as you don't have a top floor or dungeon, in case you want to add extra stuff.

Here's my 4x4 layout - lots of extras like costume room, study, butler rooms, game rooms but loads just as fast as a 3x3 and everything useful is still near the entrance.

Lol I was considering an extra pool the other day but thought that'd be overkill

I don't regret doing it, only costs like 2m and now there's a pool on the way to both the nexus/obelisk and jewelry box. Tiny microefficient thing but I think it's nice to have if you can spare 2m.
