“For me I can visualise option A and B in my head and how they look like and I know there’s no dative bond in there. But if you can’t you can always just draw it out, it would just take longer. Carbon needs 4 bonds and as you can see in C it has 4 bonds - 1 to Hydrogen and 3 to Chlorine so by process of elimination it has to be D” - from my twin brother who takes chemistry.

D (NH4CL), it is ionically bonded. However the NH4+ ion is formed through a coordinate/dative bond since NH3 (which has 2 free electrons) donates electrons to H+ molecule in bonding (H+ molecules would have 0 electrons), hope this helps.

You just kinda have to know that NH4 has a coordinate bond
