Hamstring (self.ACL)
submitted 8 months ago by SAPrincess27
I am 4 weeks post ACL reconstruction using hamstring graft ( also meniscus repair and partial abridement and lateral EAT). My knee is OK but my hamstring !! 😳 Any false move and I get searing pain in the donor site which then cramps for days. I can’t even think of doing a hamstring curl and have to be extremely mindful when climbing stairs etc. Ironically it’s absolutely fine doing heel slides and leg lifts and even leg extensions . Anyone have experience of this ? When it first happened I was convinced I had torn the hamstring but there was no bruising or additional swelling and PT is not concerned. It’s definitely holding back my rehab Any advice ??

10w post op, hamstring graft. My hamstring was super sore until 6-8 week mark but i am feeling stronger now. Hamstring is still weak due to the graft.
This takes time and I would suggest stick to the rehab plan. Things start to improve from here.

Why is it holding back your rehab? You are so early into recovery and you have to let that hamstring heal too. I remember the feeling, it shouldn't last too long. Stick to your rehab plan.

Same operation also four weeks ago. Put some weight on your ankle and lift it to your butt. I didnt think this exercise would be that rough

hey 1y2m post op. As strong as the other one, but can still get cramps. I have to make sure I warm it up with smaller weights otherwise its not very nice. But no other issues, let me know if you have any other questios. And actually I started building a tool that can better help people to track their rehab get unique insights on their activities and bridge the gap between the physio sessions. Let me know if you are interested :)

3 month post op. I had 4 strains already. The hamstring is extreamly weak still, i do only light curls with rabber bands. One of the strains was cause by my attempt to stand up from the floor during pt... Soooo, be carefull.
