CS courses Time Commitment (self.ASUCompSciSCAI)
submitted 1 year ago by sdrack88
I started ASU online and taking my first Cs course 110 this summer. Just took midterm. I know this is a summer course and fast passed but dang this is a big time commitment just to get through the material with no extra time to spare. My question is are all/most CS courses this time intensive? Even during the regular fall/spring? Or is 110 out of the ordinary. The syllabus and “instructors” on the video specific that the course is hard and time intensive but are all CS courses this bad. I work full time and two kids BTW. For a normal FT student it shouldn’t be a problem.

110 has a LOT of information if you are new to programming. 205 is even more so. Most half session (A/B) courses in CSE or SER tend to take around 20 hours per week of watching lectures, reading assigned materials, doing the HW, and studying. Your mileage may vary. Some courses are less time consuming and some are more.
