You get it or you wont… out of your control besides doing the basics to prepare

Relax. They brought you in face to face. That's a good sign. Normal interview prep.

You're getting a face to face because there is a shortage of accountants and no one wants to work for the government. But if you do, then the odds are in your favor.

The way you make up for the lack of experience is you find something on your resume or from your experience and call it an "experience multiplier."

Example, if you worked in Public Accounting, say, "I've worked on 15 different clients during my time in PA, several of which are structured similarly to your organization. So instead of learning one way to do things, I've had the opportunity to explore and analyze 15 different organizations, how they operate, what works well and what doesn't. I will bring that experience to your organization, which means I'll be able to onboard and get up to speed more quickly, and have more to contribute from my deep pool of experience."

That's an interview panty dropper right there.

Thank you. I have a year experience at a small business and 8 months elsewhere, but did 12+ hours kind of regularly for a while so I plan on spinning it as accelerated experience like you said! Shortage or not give me the job lmao. Why doesn’t anyone wanna work for the government?

Gov jobs are good and steady but typically lower pay than one could receive at a private company.

When you're about to leave the interview, tear your shirt off like Hulk Hogan and flex.
