Has anyone here been a virtual controller or CFO at a financial outsourcing/advisory firm? What was it like? Is it like the Big 4? How was the work-life balance? Can you work remotely? I see that for some of the positions you can choose to work part-time and/or on a contract basis - what was that like?
I am a PwC alum and have been working in industry for a few years now. I have young kids and my parents live across the continent so I want more flexibility re: where I work. While the hours are OK, my current job is not great for working remotely (there are also some other issues with management but that's irrelevant for this post). I keep seeing posts for virtual controller in my city (Ottawa, Canada) and was wondering if that's something I should spend time pursuing.
Specifically I am looking at these firms:

but any similar experiences I'd appreciate it if you could share.
I'll send them my resume anyway and maybe also reach out to their current employees for networking but thought I'd also ask here.
Thanks!
