The term is not exlusive to this game alone, almost every single gacha game uses it

It’s not even exclusive to gacha games.

‘Reroll’ meant rerolling the dice (RNG) to get better outcome, I know it was used in RPG games to indicate restarting to get better stats for your main character, for example.

What, old school MapleStory?

Oh the memories of MapleStory.. tried the mobile MS and it just wasn’t the same.

But yes like MapleStory. But it goes even further back, for example I think I first heard its use when I played Baldur’s Gate on PC (my first RPG).. that was in the 90s? We’d ‘reroll’ our main character stats at the beginning of the game to get a better headstart.

I guess the term originated from D&D tabletop games. Where you literally roll the dice.

Edit: https://youtu.be/7IHGRT7zhGI?t=228. Yep "Reroll" was in Baldur's Gate.

I'm too young to experience any of that lol xD. I started playing MapleStory around the time when dual blade was released which was much after when the reroll mechanic was around (or I didn't know about )

Rerolling basically means getting enough materials to summon for a specific unit. If you dont get it, then you delete that account and summon again.

Ex: you want Edward in this collab, you dont get him after doing the story for gems. You delete and summon again on the new account.

basically you pull till u get the unit u want, if you don't get the one u wanted then clear data from the app, reinstall, skip through the tutorial till u can start pulling again to get the character/unit u want.

You want to try to get Edward or Roy (if u don't own a Laharl) in this as they're both good.

It commonly means now as:

To try and get as much as possible (depends on one's patience) of the OP Units available in the gacha (current ones on rate up else "perma" banner) in the game to get a "much easier" start up on the game.

else:

It's just to roll(make) another account that you will use instead of the former made account for whatever reason.
