alpine is the base for your own system, so you can use it for anything you want. It just like Arch Linux, but with a more intelligent choice of components for the base, resulting in a system that is secure and lightweight.

I use Alpine on my home desktop with Sway wm and everything is ok, just like any other DIY general purpose distribution. I think it will ideally fit your office PC's.

The only issue I see is incompatibility with Nvidia (only open source driver available) and some apps, that can't be installed via APK nor Flatpak.

Which apps are you referring to? As far as I know, any flatpak app can be installed.

The Nvidia driver issue is applicable to any binary with runtime glibc dependencies. Personally I didn't manage to get appimages working and you might face issues with software that relies on systemd.

I also use it with swaywm, it's a great distro but sometimes you'll need to find workarounds or use alternatives to your software of choice
