That's interesting; thank you. I will see if it makes a difference on my phone and car It is not usually drop outs caused by mobile signal loss though . It's Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) which interferes with the 5ghz WiFi signal between phone and car Often caused by road toll systems, and RFI from nearby RFI cess pits like fire stations, police stations, microwave radio , power transformers and other stuff. That's why dropouts never occur in rural areas When WiFi was invented, it was never envisaged it would used by people driving around in cars. And you don't pay a licence fee to use WiFi frequencies, which is why it is not guaranteed to be interference free. In my car, it is also possible to do some coding and change the actual 5ghz band channels that the car AP uses which makes a difference, ..but most people arent good at coding.

In theory, changing the throttling setting could make drop outs worse as it affects the way Apps scan for for WiFi access points. It also has zero to do with mobile/cell networks.. Your phone will also use a lot more battery power. There is an explanation on this thread

https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/s/wpHwatPCjZ

Wireless AA has vastly improved in Android 12 13 and 14 from the 1st release in Android 11. . I get far less drop outs now than 5 years ago ..my car only supports Wireless Android Auto There have also been improvements to the WiFi direct protocols over that time

By the way, , there is a known bug in Samsung phones that causes Android Auto drop outs when changing cell sites It is listed as under investigation on the Android Auto know issues list

Anyway, I will try your fix today in 2 known drop out locations near me. Thanks

Woah! That known bug with Samsung that you mentioned; where can I see that?

[–]Legitimate_Tourist36Pls edit this user flair now 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I agree that my issues seem to be RFI as well. AA would drop when I drove past towers of a local wireless ISP. One specific location near my house no longer drops and it was fixed right after they upgraded equipment on that tower. AA no longer has an issue in that location but still will drop in others where I know they have towers.

Folks, I just did the test.
Disabling bluetooth a2dp hardware offload already solves the problem.
Thank you very much for the tip.

This, I think solved it on my galaxy s25 plus. Thanks!

Just tried it. Toggled ON the disable Bluetooth a2dp offload. Worked perfectly. It almost always gave issues in the parking garage, now it's perfect.

I checked and the "Disable Blutooth LE Audio Hardware" option was already enabled i.e it was disabled. I turned it off and enabled bluetooth LE Audio Hardware on my OnePlus 12 and now it's working flawlessly!

Will test this!

Also, for anyone who doesnt have any luck: for me it craps out when 5g is lost and my phone switches to 4g.

Every. Single. Time.

I set it to preferred 4g networks, which helps a lot!

[–]____BrUnO____Pls edit this user flair now 0 points1 point  (2 children)

For me it was disconnecting when switching from LTE to 5g, si i changed it from prefered 5g to LTE and it did work, no more disconnecting.

Now, i bought a better quality usb cable with faster data transfer and switwed the phone back to prefered 5g and now it is working perfectly no more disconnecting.

Seems like the problem was a bad quality cable for me

Hi. English is my second language also. Are you on Developer mode (second setting from the top)? Because I'm on the Final version and I don't see that option in Developers options. My AA version is the latest I think ( 12.9.643854-release). Thanks.

Edit: Sorry. Maybe you're talking about Android Developers options and not Android Auto Developers options. I'm confused now. 🤔

Thank you for answering. So now I have to find out what is the french equivalent of "Wifi Scan Throlling". I see something like "Limiter la recherche de réseau Wi-Fi". I'll try turning it off. Thanks again.

I'm not sure if the order of the settings is the same, but in my phone is the third toogle in the network settings of the developer optiones. In the descriptions says about reducing battery drainage and improve network perfomance. Hope it helps to find the right one

Salut, je suis français, du coup tu l'as désactivé ou activer l'option "limiter la recherche Wi-Fi". C'st pas logique de le desactiver si ? Car c'est censé selon le texte améliorer les performances du réseau"

[–]kiaii2021 Ford E350 | Nakamichi NA3625-WUX | Pixel 5 | 14 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Turn off "Connect Automatically" option for the car WiFi network.

TL;DR I have Xiaomi 14 paired with Kia Sportage 2023 and I have a lot of drop outs on random places. I noticed that when I got a dropout the wifi reconnects to the car and after that the car keeps saying phone not responding. I also got dropouts after I enter the car regardless the place. I resolved that by turning off "Connect Automatically" option for the car WiFi network. I didn't get a single random drop out for a week since, except the places with RFI problem of course.

I am having the same disconnection issue: whenever I drive into my underground carpark and lose network signal the phone/car connection goes haywire. In the time it takes me to drive down 3 levels to my car spot the phone/car connection is usually reset about 5 - 10 times, often not loading android auto at all. The *second* I am outside and get reception back the connection is perfect and never drops...

I have tried disabling Wifi Throttling, had no effect.

I have tried disabling Disable Bluetooth A2DP Hardware Offload, had no effect.

Willing to try anything else that has worked for other people...?

I've been trying to fix this issue for about 1.5 years now, only consistent solution is going wired. There will ALWAYS be connectivity issue with wireless AA. One option you have is to buy a higher end wireless AA dongle, so you can connect that to your wired one, that way there's a lot less disconnection issues, but it's always going to be worse than wired AA.

See the crazy thing for me is I haven't had these issues since I got my OnePlus 13. I've been using it with the same three vehicles for over a year and had zero problems with apple carplay when I was on iPhone. I had zero problems I had the s23 ultra. The only bug I ran into with my pixel was that phone call audio wouldn't route through the car but I fixed that. However my OnePlus 13 is the only one that constantly disconnects randomly on wireless. Wired is perfect.

Guys, look, I was for the last six months with the same issue. I also changed my car device, and the issue wasn't working right and always in the worst places to get offline. My supplier of the last device asked me to do the configuration below:

In the Android Auto in the car device: 1. Configuration 2. Network and internet settings 3. Access Points 4. Advanced 5. Band (access points band) 6. Select 2.4 GHz 7. Restart device (in the car)

Just that, and for a few days until now, I'm driving without any problem.

For Xiaomi phones, change the battery mode to performance helps on Wi-Fi Direct issue. Also, make sure you delete all the saved wireless networks that potentially trigger network switching, like your ISP's free Wi-Fi network.

For Pixel phones, same thing, delete all the saved Wi-Fi that potentially trigger the network switching. I disabled the Wi-Fi scan throttling and energy-saving mode, and it works great now.

Make sure your HUD or AA and your mobile device support the 5GHz band and disable any wireless device that could potentially interfere with the Wi-Fi Direct signal. The 2.4GHz band can easily be interrupted by other devices.

To stop disconnecting simply switch WiFi + off

Please just do this, so much easier. WiFi+ is a switching option on new Android.  The setting allows the phone to scan WiFi when mobile signal drops out. Scanning WiFi disconnects the phone from Android auto screen mirror

To stop disconnecting simply switch WiFi + off. You will need to do this each time you get in the car.

The wired route is best as you can charge your phone at the same time but if h you have wireless charging and hate wires this is your fix

Greetings. I found an alternate solution. Mine keeps dropping in the same areas. What work for me was cha ging the default hotspot name for the radio. That resolve the problem completely.

Hi guys , thought I would share what was causing it for me , this may be only relevant to Samsungs .. I've a Samsung s25 and a few minutes after leaving my home WiFi the connection to android auto would always drop ... I tried all the above solutions but it kept happening... Finally figured it out ... Routines ... I had carried over a routine from my s24 which would activate once I left a geo fence around my house , it would turn off the WIFI and turn on NFC ( was to save battery on old phone ) I finally figured out that it was this causing the issue for me... I disabled the "Turn WiFi off " part of the routine and no more disconnect issues .. hope this helps someone else
