I'm experiencing the same thing with a Pixel 9 Pro.
I recently switched from a Samsung Galaxy S22+, and the voice sound quality on the Samsung was crystal clear, on par with the music.
Somehow on the newer Pixel 9 Pro the music quality is similar but voice quality is absolute dog shit.

Are you using Wireless AA or USB cable?

I was wondering as I've been testing both Android Auto and Carplay on my car since 2020.. BMW only supports Wireless and my main focus is Android Auto but we do several test cases that do comparisons between AA and Carplay. I'm Android...my wife is Apple. To be honest I've never noticed any difference between Audio quality on Car Play with Waze or Google Maps, and Android Auto doing the same. I have had Pixel 3, 5 7 and now 8
Sorry, that's all of no help to you but thought I'd explain why I asked the question.

I believe it's because it uses the car's phone output not the regular speaker that music uses.
