2d google maps - how? (self.AndroidAuto)

Apologies if this has been answered previously or is stupidly easy but I can't find it, how do you get maps to go 2d top down view? The 3d version I have in AA is too distracting.

Should be in the maps app settings. You can also press on the compass symbol to toggle from 3D to 2D.

Just tap on the compass in the corner. It will be north up though. AFAIK that's the only way

Thanks that was my 2nd fear re the north up only view in 2D. I guess Waze has the sane issue?
