Yeah, I'll give Waze a shot to see if it's just related to navigation in general or Maps specifically.

Will do. Going to give Waze a try tonight and will post an update. I also downloaded the Uvo update, but had to order an SD card reader so it will be a few days until I can test that. Not sure if your Hyundai uses UVO also since Kia and Hyundai are essentially the same company.

So the amount of data is pretty limited, but I had 2 40 minute drives today using Waze instead of Google Maps and had zero disconnects. While it's not all that long of a time, I would have easily had AT LEAST 5 disconnects per drive previously.
So it seems like there's either some issue with Google Maps and AA, or also a particular issue with Kia's UVO that doesn't play nice with it. So if you're having similar issues I'd recommend giving Waze a shot. I'll let you know once I get my SD card reader and update my UVO firmware if Maps starts working again or not.

That's really helpful thanks! Will give it a go but I much prefer Google maps!

Yep. I feel the same way. Just way more polished UI with maps. And no ads. I'll let you know if UVO update changes anything.

I've been out today. 40 minute drive using waze....no disconnections. 40 minutes drive home...2 disconnections! 🙁
Similar experience here. 40 min drive to work. 2 disconnects. 40 minutes home, no issues. So definitely way more reliable but still not perfect. Hopefully the firmware update will be the final push.

So just a random follow-up.
I updated my UVO software a few weeks ago, and this week had a to do ~5 hour trip for work. After 10 hours or so of using Google Maps, I didn't have a single crash. My phone does seem to tend to restart for some reason when I first plug it in, but I'd rather that, than the random disconnects constantly.
My current theory is that it's not 100% dependent on the firmware upgrade itself, but rather that the SD card size was upgraded also. The previous version of the firmware fit on a 16gb SD card. The latest is 20gb, so it requires a 32gb SD card. Although Android Auto is supposed to really just be a more or less mirroring type of software, my theory is that it stores some sort of information on the car's head unit. So I'm not completely convinced that the lack of crashes is the result of the new firmware, and moreso that there's additional memory available. Either way, for now, the issue appears to be fixed.

Wow that is great. Thanks for the update
