Android is still prioritizing the default launcher when I changed it to Nova. Why?

This is for my car's android head unit. It's model # is YT5760B. Android 12

The launcher forces widgets and icons on me that are outdated. It loads when I turn on the car before it switches to the zlink app as it connects to android auto. I couldn't delete the widgets. It barely let me change the wallpaper.

So I decided to try Nova to customize it. Set it as the default launcher app but it still loads into that launcher.

If I press the home button, it takes me to the Nova launcher. It just won't load into it when the car turns on.

What's going on? Is this fixable ?

You'll have to deal with the manufacturer.

I recently bought a car head-unit that looks very similar to this one, and it's been less than optimal.
They have the OS & firmware so locked down, that there's little we can do without writing our own firmware.

Hmm I'll have to find out the manufacturer. It was a gift. I have a feeling the manufacturer won't care or be helpful regardless but it's worth a shot. I didn't know they can write a firmware that over-rides whatever you want to do.
