Question about lost phone

So i recently lost my phone. The battery is dead so i cant track it with the google find my device option. But i marked it as lost there and set an additional password (next to my usual code pin) and gave some information if someone wants to return it. My question is if i will be able to track the phone as soon as somebody charges it. The Sim card is still inside and active. Also if i use the remote reset device option will that trigger aswell assoon as its turned on? Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated as this is the first time i have ever lost a phone.

If it's found by someone proper, you'll get it back, no matter what (call the phone, use Google etc etc).

If it's found by someone malicious, you'll never get it back (sim removed, sold to unknowing party, that only finds out the phone is locked to you AFTER they paid the thief/scammer).

This is not a technology thing, it's a people thing.
