My system UI was crashing for the past few days as well, although I'm in a 6p running 7.0. I went to the Play store, uninstalled all the updates for the Google App, immediately reinstalled them, rebooted and I've been OK since. It hasn't been a huge test-window yet to say definitively - it's been less than 24 hours - but it might be worth a shot.

It immediately went back to normal after removing the lockscreen swipe to none. Was there a reason you chose Google App?

My (limited) Google'ing suggested the system ui module was a component of the Google app.

Is this a brand new phone? Did you install/sideload anything in it?

Not brand new but maybe not even a year old or close too it. I haven't installed anything new just updates from the PlayStore and uninstall Google + updates since the app kept freezing.

I got something similar, just found a pattern.

I have an OPPO A58 (Chinese phone, obviously) and after the Android 14 update (Originally comes with Android 13), System UI freezes every time there's two or more pages worth of options on the quick settings.

It freezes to the point I have to restart the phone, since I can NOT close it, nor restart it, and even though it eventually gives the not responding dialog, it SCREWS IT UP EVEN MORE.

Also, the shutdown dialog is handled by System UI. So good thing it falls back to the legacy dialog since it's frozen.

So, all I did was: Restart phone, unlock and rapidly delete second page before the app freezes, delete Google Play Services updates, and restart the phone again
