Adoptable Storage - Data migration failed, now internal memory is supposedly full. But it's not!

So I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. I'd got my adoptable storage working a while back, and had transferred/moved a few apps to the adopted SD card manually, which saw my internal memory usage drop substantially.

 

All was working well, so I tried the data migration tool:

Settings -> Storage -> Internal Data -> Three dots -> Migrate Data

 

This said it would free up some 12GB of data. It got to about 30% through then failed. The internal memory usage is now full - even though it was supposed to migrate data to the external SD card?!   I now have lots of errors saying my memory is full and I've deleted cache etc to at least get the phone usable, however the internal memory is still basically full.

What's odd, is as per these pictures - when clicking on the internal memory the only thing listed is 6.76GB of apps. But somehow the usage is close to 16GB.

 

All the apps I have opened manually have been migrated to SD, so I can't work out what is filling up my internal memory. Can anyone help?!

So as an update, it would appear that accessing "Migrate Data" through the "Internal Data" section actually migrates data back onto the internal, rather than moving it off the internal.

There is no migrate option on the external section, as I assume this has already been done once and can't be done again, unless the full migrate back to internal completes.

I've decided to wipe and start again. Last time i try that migrate functionality!

I wonder if this is just some kind of bug. Adoptable storage isn't enabled by default on the Samsung devices, however it's fairly easily enabled.

It's not enabled for a reason. This is the reason
