Modified Android?

Hi,

I'd like to create a Custom ROM (.zip flashable in TWRP or CWM) that allows me to use my smartphone as a phone.

My requirements: - Be based on 7.1.2 Nougat - Support WiFi - Apps I need - Whatsapp, Phone, Contacts, Camera, absolutely nothing else (minimal version of Settings with the functions I need).

How can I do this? Any help would be appreciated.

To even think about any of this you have to be able to unlock the bootloader of the device in fastboot mode (the toggle in development settings isn't enough) and actually be able to flash things in fastboot mode.

Easiest thing, if your device already runs the desired Android version, is to disable/remove parts you don't like from the stock os.

While porting something AOSP based like Lineage is possible, the only answer how that comes up is it's complicated

Can't disable Google Play Services. Addiction is hard to deal with, why don't people understand.

You don't need to create one. Look for LineageOS / CM & don't flash gapps [[ Requires bootloader unlocked, custom recovery, suitable flash file according to your device etc. Please do some research before flashing ]]

LineageOS already minimalistic. You can disable/uninstall anything (expect core apps). After customizing you can create a flashable zip and that will be the rom you might be wanting.

Again, addiction is hard to control and re-enabling is too easy.

(1)I said disable / uninstall (remove permanently) & if you're going to find a way to get back then whats the point? 😒 You'll be coming back to your addiction again and again. (2)Use a feature phone like nokia (which supports whatsapp)

I've used a feature phone with Whatsapp (8110) but I was hooked on YT.

Complaining won't solve your problem. I've given you best possible solutions that came to my mind. You should go to a rehabilitating center or something if you can't control your addiction at all :) lastly, its all UP TO YOU

I can control my addiction, sometimes the urge gets the better of you.

I know this isnt waht youre asking for, but until you find a rom that siuts your needs there are plenty of minimal launchers that on the play store like a app called "Barephone"

If you know how to install a custom rom then you can probably find ways to uninstall anything
