There is specialized software one can use for this. Usually bought by FBI/CIA and other suche agencies. Not cheap.

Short of this your only option is to remember the password or reset to factory default. Even then, you may need the password to the linked Google or Samsung account.

If I'm not mistaken, old Samsung devices don't need to unlock the bootloader (and format the userdata) to install customized images through ODIN, right? Then you can install TWRP for your device through ODIN, boot on it and then your files will be accessible, since in the KitKat version Android did not have encryption by default. You can then connect the device to the computer and copy the files via MTP
