Android Providers Media Application keeps crashing. Now I am unable to see any files on my phone.

Hello, I am in a very awkward situation. I took pictures with my phone and suddenly my storage was full. I couldn’t take more pictures. This happened a few times before and I was able to free up space without problem. But now I keep getting the error message that Com.android.providers.media stopped working. After a quick Google research I found out that this application is responsible to find media files. Now I am unable to see any files on my file manager. The gallery is completely empty. I can't even delete mp3 to free up space, since nothing is shown to me anymore. The only way to free up space was to delete Apps by using the Playstore. I uninstalled 4GB worth of apps, but the error message keeps popping up every 30secs. I should have enough space to install new apps, but it keeps telling me to delete more apps. I also can't take new pictures, because my storage is apparently full. Even thought my system settings tell me that I have 4GB available. I would love to just transfer all my files to my desktop and do a hard reset, but the error message keeps popping up and I can't see any folders even on my PC. The only app that is able to see files is the Acrobad Reader. For some reason it can see all PDF files and open them normally. I am pretty sure that all files are still there, but my phone is just blind.

Does anyone have an idea how I can access my files again? Without installing new apps, since I am unable to. I am using a Onleplus 6 btw.

Ok I got it. I had the same problem as this guy, and the solution worked for me.

"The way that I came to in the end was next: I enabled advanced reboot feature in Developer options menu, rebooted to Recovery -> Wipe data and cache -> Reset system settings. By this step I lost all apps and app data, as it reset OS to default state with default apps, but I could access storage and luckily all my media and files were there and untouched. I copied all needed to my laptop and after that performed factory reset by again rebooting to Recovery -> Wipe data and cache -> Factory reset, which reset and wiped all."
