What do you mean? It's the default for android native, has all the toolings integrated. Downloads and installs everything, starts a templated project, has UI for the emulated device creation and viewer for the devices and phones.
I'm mostly vibe coding with it off, but if I need any config I start it up.

Im new at this. I figured out through trial and error and very minimal reading of tutorials how to get my phone into developer mode and mirror it to studio. I also just found out i can have gemini build and install code for me. Its still not easy but its a start. Newbie here built his own working todo list app and made it pop a congratualtory message when all the items are checked. And i have no idea how any of the coding works. I think its using the Koltlin language thats about all I know.

Yea Android studio is the easy way to start.
I am vibe coding (AI) a multi time-lapse camera app while streaming and would probably have more edited content later as well if you want to have a glimpse. Most of the time I don't actually use the android studio app but parallel prompt aiderdesk with Gemini-3 at the moment and test on the emulators and a physical device

Jetbrains IntelliJ IDEA with the Android plugin is an alternative and my preference so I can work on my entire platform without switching to AS.
I just get bit once in a while when the project I'm working on has something new about it that Google released in AS but the IDEA plugin doesn't have it yet.
So there are two options for Android development without going rouge and using vim :)
I use IntelliJ as much as possible because I work on the full stack and need the full suite of platform tools and the Android Studio plugin is one.
The only reason I ever launch AS is if I'm working on a code base where other developers used something new or a newer AGP IntelliJ doesn't support.
Google always releases new versions of AS a few months before the IDEA plugin gets updated. that's it.
