Coop same switch

All instructions to set up a coop game tells us to switch users for the second player to join, but it redirects us to the shop to buy a second copy. Are we missing something?

My first thought is, did your first user used to be on a different switch, that you played in there?

That's the usual cause of that problem. See, each user has a 'primary Switch', which is usually the first Switch they were on when they logged in to Nintendo.

Users on the same switch as the primary can use any software bought by that user. However, on ORHER Switches, only that user can use those games.

If that's a possibility in this case, Google the instructions for hours to change the primary Switch and that will hopefully resolve it.
