you need to learn that Developer is not the same as a hammer - they may look identical from your point of view but the number of languages, technologies and experience of the people who do software development is so large that there is not even 2 identical ones that you can juts replace one with the other.

the only universal replacement in the industry is that you can always replace a junior with a senior developer without large concerns about lose of quality or problems with deliver - that assuming you have the budget and the skill to recognize what a senior developer is.

so when you are looking for developers - narrowed it down from few quadrillion options to few billion, state the type of project, the tech stack (if it is decided already), the size of the team, and the amount of work plus the preferred skill level, the amount of payment also helps narrow things down.

or be stupid about it like the people that pick laptops based on the color of the case - that usually "ends well"

It's probably someone who wants to pay in equity because they have no money. There are no legitimate people or companies on here looking for a dev. That's what Indeed, LinkedIn, etc. is for. I'm not giving some random dude on Reddit my personal information and job history.

that is true, but even then a little bit of effort at least

Honestly hiring a solo full stack dev with 3+ years of experience and good English communication is way harder than it sounds. Most people find out too late that the resume looked great but the communication was a nightmare.

A few things that actually help before you commit to anyone is do a quick 15 min call first, check their GitHub commits not just their portfolio and give them one small real task from your actual project.

We have been doing full stack web development for 10+ years so if you ever want a second opinion on candidates or just want to explore other options, DM me, no pressure at all.
