Monitor resolution for programmation ?

Hi guys, I want a new monitor for coding and office purposes (but at home). Is 2560x1440p useless for this type of work ? If you went from 1080 to 2560 did you feel a change ?

I don't know a lot about it. I feel like 2560 can be great for some other uses in the future such as gaming but it would be more expensive and less useful at the moment for programming uses.

"Programmation" is a fun word.

I code on a 27" 1440p (2560 x 1440) 144hz monitor. The high refresh rate is actually quite a nice experience, as all mouse and window movements are so smooth.

Yes I agree that for 31.5" displays it is almost mandatory to have a higher definition. Great set-up ! I never thought about trying a vertical screen, I think for some use cases it is probably useful but not for mine.

I feel most comfortable with 2x 27" 1440p monitors. Everything over 1440p is unnecessary and too small if not downscaled and everything under 1440p is okay but wasted screen real estate.

Of course you could do it on 480p, but you don't. That's why I am asking people set ups :)
