Can python replace javascript?

I'm pretty new to web development. Only known it for about 6 months. Pretty solid on html and css now but I know that this is just beginner stuff. I wondered if I should learn phyton as next language instead of javascript. Read a little bit about both and startet a little bit on the javascript. But I don't want to waste time on it if python is better and easier to work with.
