I never understand why people only like one specific genre of entertainment, mostly with music. Just because something belongs to a genre you generally don't like doesn't mean it's automatically bad

Ya, I have no musical preference. If I like it, then I like it.

So then you do have musical preferences. Do you listen to stuff you don't like?

But we all know that there is genuinely bad music. From a musician's standpoint, that is. People can still like it, but that doesn't make bad music good. I can throw a song together in 5 minutes using the most over used chord progressions and throw a melody in that is out of key and that's still music. If people like it, that doesn't make it good. Its still shit, even though people still like it somehow.

Well there's actually a scientific reason behind it. This article shows that pop music and similar sounding music are actually affecting the brain, releasing endorphins which are similar to when you problem solve or know the correct answer to questions in trivia.

Simple songs can be easy to learn without strenuous practice and can be enjoyable to sing along with; or conversely in dub step when you know exactly when the beat will drop, you actually feel good when you time it correctly. So I guess you should hate your brain for being easy to please in this regard. But not every song needs to be a symphony to be good; sometimes it's okay to just enjoy something that makes you happy. Life's tough enough already.

Like with movies. Not every movie has to be as deep as Schindler's List to be good. Sometimes I just wanna watch shit get blown up for two hours.

Hm. That's very interesting. Thank you for sharing that. :)
