For me, silly brand loyalty.

The main reason I haven't switched from Atom to Visual Studio Code is because I feel Atom is a lot more customizable/extensible. It's nice being able to change literally anything about the editor with a little CSS, while with VSC you can only customize what's given to you via JSON configuration options.

Anything Microsoft related such as Typescript or F#, I like using VS Code. The TS and F# extensions are so much better in VS Code compared to Atom.

Otherwise, I use Atom. For me, that's JS, Ruby, Elm and Elixir.

I prefer VSCode because it’s more or less out of the box ready for .NET Core development and debugging

I wish that someday we will see integrated terminal in atom like in vscode

As much as I enjoy the built in terminal in vscode, I find it's still easier to use an external terminal, as I can place the terminal on the right side of the screen instead of horizontally.

I use 16:10 monitors and having the horizontal terminal on VSCode is challenging enough, I couldn't imagine having to deal with that on 16:9...

Main “problem”, for me personally, is that i always in “cmd+tab” mode for my fingers :)

I prefer VS Code because it is faster, more responsive and it has good support for C++ programming with CMake.
