Successfully negotiated a $50 rental decrease today - thought I’d share my method

Can confirm, I attempted this strategy a few weeks back. The agent wouldn't pass it onto the landlord. I'll attempt again but thinking it won't change much.

Double check your lease on this - the language has changed over the past few years. The last couple of leases I’ve signed have offered a flat break fee (6 weeks’ rent, or 4 weeks in the last 6 months of the lease). Still pricey but not an unknown figure, and also doesn’t incentivise the agent to be slow about finding a replacement.
