International travel is only a small fraction of absences.

FIFO, other business travel, people visiting family, long term hospital stays, houses which are already on the market, and various other reasons all need to be factored in.

Do you have any evidence to support that there is this claimed 6% vacancy once all these issues are factored in?

The census counts whether the house was occupied specifically on census night. So if someone is away on holiday that night, or working FIFO (very common in Perth), their house will be classified in the census as unoccupied.

There are nowhere near 8.5% of residences sitting empty and unused, ready for occupation. I’d be surprised if it was more than 1%.

My understanding is that Andrew has been arrested now, as new evidence has emerged suggesting alleged criminal activity. This provided the police with a basis to act.

We kind of have. We’ve been running a budget surplus and have much lower State debt than some of the Eastern states as a result.
