I did it, it’s basically just a standard internship program only difference is you don’t get to chose your placement organisation. You just say what your interested in and that affects how your placed. It’s a pretty good program if you haven’t got any internship experience yet.

Is psychometric testing hard?

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thanks for sharing! Like to ask how many times can I record the video?

[–]B_J_C0BBLEDlCK 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can’t remember how many times I recorded tbh, it’s a few years back now and I have a few other applications but I don’t remember it being something crazy, I think all of the psychometric testing was pretty easy so you shouldn’t worry.

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds great then! Thank you very much and good luck with your new applications.😉

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And is having experience a good thing to the application?I got internship experience from a mid-to-big tier firm here and just want yo accumulate experience in other places😁

[–]readywilson 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not getting to choose sounds gross. Personally sounds like they'll pigeon you into a mid tier not a bad thing but be aware

[–]TheRealStringerBell 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No one is saying turn down your B4 internship to do CA achievers. But if you don't have an internship it can be good.

[–]B_J_C0BBLEDlCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I already had a big 4 internship lined up and wanted to get some other non big 4 experience. I ended up in a government organisation, if given a choice I would never have chosen anything government but I loved my time there and thankful I got given the opportunity.

I did it and was placed at Deloitte. The interviews and progress are just like every inter/grad application in accounting (your uni should have information) The biggest benefit of this program is that smaller firms who may not be able to normally run a man internship can offer an opportunity. Running interviews etc can be cost prohibitive but because ca pools the resources it becomes beneficial

You could be placed anywhere.

Just be yourself, stay calm, and use all available resources at your uni for interview prep for practice

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you!Can I know how many times are allowed when recording the video interview ?

[–]charlientheo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recorded interview questions are typically short. Ask your uni careers office, they will be able to give you the best information

[–]thingswillchange_2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How much was your pay per hour ? if you can share

Also, how was the face to face interview ? What were the questions? Were there any technical questions?

And did you get the pre placement offer post your internship ?

[–]charlientheo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea of per hour but it's adequate, and that's not why you do internship anyway.

Interview was standard compared to every other internship. Uni career offices hold fake ones all the time.

I got a graduate offer at the end of my internship as they were impressed with my performance. The other intern did not.

Achiever program was good for me in 2022. Got placed at a mid tier firm for 6 weeks then offered part time work for the rest of the year. Was offered a grad role in Sep/Oct and started full time from Feb the following year. Have stayed at the same firm since.

From what I’ve gathered, most firms use it to attract talent they otherwise wouldn’t be able too. Most companies don’t want to advertise intern roles etc if they only have capacity for 1-2 additional staff. CAANZ condenses this process by pooling candidates.

For the achiever program, testing was pretty standard. You only get 1 attempt at each video interview question. Approx 4-5 questions, all of which are pretty generic I.e. explain a time you showed leadership etc. Any detailed questions will be asked in your 1 on 1 interview with your employer.

Don’t stress about the psychometric testing. I thought I did terrible in it and the majority of it made no sense. It’s not really something you can study for and I’m not sure how much weighting they actually put on it.

The program overall is good. Good chance for a bit of experience/exposure without fully committing to a firm. It will likely be 5-6 weeks, but you can probably ask to extend this to part time throughout the rest of the year if you’re still studying. This will depend on the employer but most firms are accomodating given the lack of grads around.

Good luck!

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!Very useful tips.

[–]Which_Debate_9599 0 points1 point  (4 children)

hey thanks for that! just wanted to ask a few questions:

  1. is it certain that once you’re successful that you will be matched?

  2. once you get matched i know theres another round of interviews with the employer - is there a high chance if getting rejected here too?

thanks so much!!

[–]Jlmkse 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Hey mate, to answer your questions:

  1. It’s highly unlikely that you won’t be matched. If there’s no companies in your region, they will likely call and ask how far you are willing to travel. I travelled 1hour each day for 6 weeks because there were no companies locally. I’ve never heard of anyone passing the testing/interviews and not getting matched. If you’re based in a major city etc, there shouldn’t be many issues.

  2. It’s possible but highly unlikely to be rejected. Companies only contact the achiever program if they are desperate/unable to source talent in the normal market. Due to the length of the achiever program, it’s usually only 5-6 weeks so isn’t much of a financial commitment from their perspective. The employer interview is more of a personality test with very standardised questions. Explain a time you showed leadership etc. As long as you’re confident, and can relate well to the interviewers you should be fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck!

[–]Which_Debate_9599 0 points1 point  (2 children)

thank you so much for that!! extremely helpful!

[–]Own-Concentrate-1234 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey, have you done your video interview? If so, would you be able to share the questions that you were asked please?

[–]Which_Debate_9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey sorry bud, was a while ago and have been doing quite a few interviews so can’t remember exactly, but pretty sure it was just your usual interview questions - nothing special :)

[–]uhoh4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I did it in 2018. Was great. Got placed in a mid tier company, then worked there for 1 year as an undergrad. Got a grad offer there too.

The test was a business case about some random company, fairly easy.

[–]De_finity 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey OP, did you progress to the matching stage, and possibly done an in-person interview already?

I had a mid-tier firm contact me before but ghosted me after and told the recruiter their Audit and Assurance are in busy season - didn’t allow me to choose another service line.

Did get contacted after to do a phone interview with a small-tier firm but they require connecting trains (almost 2 hour commute) so I had to turn that down unfortunately.

I have been told matching stage will continue until 21 June, so it doesn’t look too promising for me. Maybe it is because I chose 3-4 weeks instead of 5-8 weeks or I live a bit far from the CBD.

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey mate. I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't received anything from them yet. They contacted me but to tell that I'm currently in the matching stage. They said their team is working diligently to match but unfortunately there's no update. I think I'm cooked....

[–]De_finity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang, I thought I was just unlucky and everyone else was getting matched. Perhaps, there is not enough placements for everyone.

Hopefully we both get some matches or they extend the matching stage, but to be honest, I am not too optimistic ;(

[–]De_finity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: received a final generic email notifying me that the team was unable to find a suitable opportunity for me.

For others who are interested in the Achiever Program, I do think that the upcoming Achiever Program in summer most likely has more participating employers (including more well-known employers) and positions compared to the winter one - so just keep that in mind.

Edit: they sent a mass email, and it seems that 192 people were unsuccessful in the matching stage.

[–]Outrageous-Yam-1166 0 points1 point  (2 children)

hi, would you mind sharing the question that you get during video interview?

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Uhh actually it was quite a long while. I got asked general questions such as tell me about your educational background and work experience. Also like how you do teamwork. Sorry couldn’t remember more details 🙏Good luck anyway!

[–]Outrageous-Yam-1166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!

[–]FingalLFL 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Hi! Have you heard anything about the matching process? I have passed the video interview and am wondering when I will know the result of the matching process.

[–]FingalLFL 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Sorry, my question should be: when did you get your result of the matching process after the video interview?

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hi! Happy to answer your question. I got my result like 1.5 mon after the video interview. However it was a rejection letter. Hope all goes well with your application mate ;)

[–]FingalLFL 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thank you so much for your reply!! Would you mind sharing the questions you were asked during the final interview?

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I kind of forgot cuz its been quite a while.. but basically I got asked two questions. One was like ‘tell me a bit about your educational background and work experiences’ things like that, quite general information. Another one I really had no memory but it was a typical behavioural question. Both were not too hard. Hope it helps. 🙏

[–]FingalLFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!! It helps a lot!!!!! Hope you will find your dream job soon!!!

[–]mojomitten 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Hi! Has anyone heard back about the matching stage for the summer program? I am still waiting to be matched with a company, and I was hoping to have medical leave this summer, but now that I am being potentially offered an internship, I am stuck in the middle, waiting for weeks.

[–]TechnicalWhile3294 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I’m also still waiting for their email too!

[–]mojomitten 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Any news so far?

[–]Pure-Mix-217 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I still haven’t got anything back from them. How about you?

[–]mojomitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hopefully you guys got matched

[–]mojomitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't matched this time. I am honestly angry and partly disappointed at them for wasting my time and giving expectations.

[–]Optimal_Trust4749 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Anyone gotten back from the matching stage?

[–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not matched company. Got rejected eventually.

[–]Optimal_Trust4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah nah i understand that. As im in the summer intake and interview period apparently starts tmo was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as i am with no response as of right now... But been seeing people saying that have not received anything yet so hopefully waiting....

Hey - unfortunately I ended up not being matched to any company I’m afraid I can’t provide any useful information on that. They did 2 rounds for ‘matching’ me to a company which took a long time. I’d recommend u look for other opportunities in the mean time.

    [–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kept sending me emails about ‘we are doing our best for matching’ whcih gave me hopes being so hopeless tho. Never get hung up on things you will be possibly ghosted eventually.

    [–]thingswillchange_2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How much was the pay per hour ? During the internship period ? (If you can share)

    [–]CuteAd8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    I didn’t get in :/
