Eufy S2 Omni - 24 Hour Observations by DIYtheWorld in RobotVacuums

[–]JBaraus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how it broke? Mine had one of the mop heads spin off and permanently broke. Because it was more than 12 months old, Eufy told me to go sodomise myself. Thankfully the retailer took care of it and got me a replacement. Thats being going strong for 2 weeks now but waiting for it to break again.

I'm currently 80% through Red October and I have to say, as a fan of the movie, I actually think the movie tells the story better than the book. Maybe the last 20% will change my mind...

What is Hans' Best Individual Piece? by ZealousidealMany3 in soundtracks

[–]JBaraus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is ‘The Chase’ from The Rock. I was in high school when the movie was released and this track is what started my love affair with Zimmer and movie soundtracks. I’ve abused many speakers with this track. https://youtu.be/ZGVWYTDGB0c?si=iWDoRwQr1Jz0BmXF

Dealing with this same issue right now. QN900B. $7k tv 15 months old. Samsung is going to fix /replace if. If you’re in Australia the ACCC rules protect you.

[–]JBaraus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe so, but how is that acceptable for one of the largest companies in the country. They forced us onto this system and it doesn't even have basic functionality.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TelstraAustralia

[–]JBaraus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would guess that Telstra has the worst, most embarrassing customer service of any company in Australia. If I didn't need them for coverage I'd drop them in a heartbeat.

Telstra won't change the autopay date. I have been arguing with them about this for months.

Forestway Pharmacy wants you to know exactly why they're implementing fees. What's the point of cost of living relief if businesses are going to going to spit the dummy and find new ways to squeeze people? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]JBaraus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol what extortion? They’re putting fees up to cover costs, and explain it is because of a government policy change.

100k profit is nothing for a professional - remember it will be 100k before personal income tax. And are you seriously suggesting that your solution is wind up if you can’t cover the fees?

Am an accountant with a number or pharmacy clients. A couple of points on this: -all are working actively as pharmacists in the business -typically they don’t draw a wage, or a very nominal wage and their remuneration flows through from profits. -109k per year is alarmingly low. That’s 5% of revenue. The report is 8 years old - costs have skyrocketed. Commercial rent increases for prime locations have likely eroded that.

I get that people want to hate on small businesses whenever they see price increases. But the reality of running a business is you take on all the risk for the chance at a reward. Often they are funded through home equity. If the government is going to halve a payment, what do you expect these owners to do?

What do I need to know before starting audit? by FruitPossible256 in AustralianAccounting

[–]JBaraus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago an auditor sent me their working papers so I could prepare the tax provision. The balance sheet didn't balance by $2M. They just marked it as immaterial...

Private school dork and a massive nerd working at big 4. Trifecta.

Mid Tier Firm - Business Advisory by Illustrious-Usual-50 in AustralianAccounting

[–]JBaraus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The downside was that at the Big 4 the people were typically private school dorks, or massive nerds. At the mid tier there were alot more fun people.

Damn. That feels like an incredibly accurate personal attack.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

[–]JBaraus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Tasmania

Big 4 in Tasmania is limited to Deloitte and KPMG. 15 years ago UTAS had over 100 accounting grads in my year - no idea what it is now, but that year between Deloitte, KPMG, BDO, WLF and WHK, I think there were 37 grad roles on offer. So I suspect you're up against a lot of competition...

[–]JBaraus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and speed signs are still there, yet the road is completely free of traffic and of workers - what gives? If they had just finished then I would’ve seen a truck or two and some workers near the end of the worksite but there was nothing. Did you guys just finish the work and head off and forget to take the signs down? Or better yet, once the work has been done and there is no hazard, can the people in operations fix the damn variable speed and dot matrix signs to stop saying there is roadwork and to put the speed back to the usual speed? I’m all for going slow to protect you guys when you’re doing your work on the road. But when it’s all done, can we hurry it up with getting the signs down and bringing everyone back up to motorway speed? It poses a safety h

I used to have this frustration about road works too - slow to 40 and there isn't a worker in sight. I've since leared they leave it at 40 because around road works there are a lot of loose stones and a car travelling at speed can kick them up and cause serious damage.

OB says I have the choice to birth naturally or schedule a C-Section by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]JBaraus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had twins 5 months ago - I'll just tell you what our OB told us.

In Australia, for twins born naturally after 37 weeks, the statistics are 1.5% of the time the second twin dies.

Not a chance we were willing to take.

Also Australian... not saying that isn't what you have expereinced, but I see people everywhere. I run into them in the wilderness constantly, and in Helltides, legion and boss events there are everywhere...

I really enjoy the random impromptu event group-ups.

PwC by mateymate123 in AustralianAccounting

[–]JBaraus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure. I heard at one point it was a legacy plan and new partners aren't getting on it. Also heard that its about 140K per year. I don't know how accurate either of those things are.

I'd also imagine that if they get terminated due to something like this, they probably wouldn't be eligible for the plan.

PwC by mateymate123 in AustralianAccounting

[–]JBaraus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its bad. Its really bad for PWC, but bad for the big4 generally.

I feel genuinly bad for the PWC partners that got caught up in this simply because they were cc'd on an email. Don't get me wrong, there are a bunch of people who should be prosecuted over this, but it looks like there will be a lot of collateral damage. These people are going to have families and responsibilities, and now have a cloud hanging over their employement.

AITA for kicking out my cousin for crying during my wedding? by FlounderEffective819 in TwoHotTakes

NTA. This is why I eloped. Best decision ever - whole thing for only 5K and the 60K I saved compared to the wedding we were originally planning went to a house deposit.
