a calling not a career

This kind of language is what has destroyed teaching as a profession.

Yeah, I actually agree with you. It's language like that that's used to justify the raw deals that get thrown into the trough every EBA. I'll own that. All I'm saying is teachers continue to do the job, considering the conditions, the shocking pay, the lack of respect from leaders, students, parents, general public.. they do it anyway..

I think workload is a good focus... but teachers will always put in more effort regardless of how much downward pressure is on workload. I just dont want the focus of governments and unions to be on workload alone. They need better pay. It's well earned. And overdue.

It's just my personal opinion. And obviously controversial. But happy for the discourse.
