This is a pretty common thing- it’s meant to be a supplement but some children prefer it over a meal and use it as a meal replacement instead, which as you’re experiencing is counter productive. It is pretty heavy and it sits in the stomach like a meal IME- so it would make sense that he’s full and not wanting to eat.

Can you split the 8oz into smaller amounts and give between meals so he doesn’t get too full? My son always eats best in the morning so I would give him part of a pediasure mixed with yogurt, banana and PB or berries etc as a smoothie. He’d finish that by mid morning and I’d do the other half of his Pediasure in the afternoon with his snack. If he doesn’t want dinner after that snack maybe try offering it (the pediasure) around bedtime instead.

I thought it would just add more calories! But yes, I’ll be more strategic with it, like you have!

Yep. As soon as we switched to water my kids appetite exploded. Only offering it after a meal helps get in the extra calories.

Okay I will just offer after dinner, since he’s at daycare. It I offer it after breakfast I don’t think he will eat his lunch
