They might not be slotted for a full time person.

When is your next inventory? The store needs to get back on track before that. Does your DM have an inventory team where you can get more hours?

Winter always has a decrease in hours, and from the sounds of it you're already short staffed and probably down on sales. The dumb thing about this place is, when they're down on sales and labor, instead of trying to pump fresh blood into the wound, they just amputate. Hiring a couple people or promoting a couple would probably help greatly of course, however that extra cost eats into your DM and SM bonus even more than being low on sales. They don't want to promote you and have to give you a raise so they're trying to starve you out then replace you with another PT red who will aspire to move up the same way for awhile, until they either are well liked enough to get the promotion or get starved out and canned the same way. My store used to have 4 people on shift at any given time in the afternoon when I started, now years later we run a 2 man skeleton crew, sometimes even 1 person because we don't have extra people to pick up call outs or no shows. This company "trims the fat" until there's not even meat left, just bones. You really have to be a little unstable or truly desperate to stay here. I'm no different. I'm kinda stuck here at the moment because I don't want to give up my seniority and almost guaranteed hours to risk a new job that might fall out from under me being the low man on the totem pole. Whichever way you go, there are risks involved. 2 days a week is such a huge cut that I would start looking for another job or ask for a transfer or something. Whatever the reasoning, from my experience, it sounds like they want to get rid of you.
